RealTrac Software for Real-Time Indoor and Outdoor Positioning & Personnel Tracking
RealTrac brings positioning system data together in a single interface. Track the location of employees and vehicles, control zones, handle alarms and analyze movement history.
Site map · Events and alarms · Movement history · Reports and analytics
From the current situation on site to event analysis
See the current situation
Display personnel and vehicles on the site map and find the employee or vehicle you need.
Control zones
See who is in a selected zone and use zone settings to control movements.
Handle alarms
Receive alarm events and launch predefined personnel notification scenarios.
Analyze what happens
Review movement history and build reports on time spent in zones and on recorded events.
Key tools in a single interface
Personnel and vehicles on the site map
The map shows the operator where employees and vehicles are within the equipped area. Lists of tag carriers, objects and notifications are placed in separate sections, so you can work with the current situation and events in one window.
Reconstruct the sequence of movements
Select an employee or a vehicle and review the history for the period you need. The timeline shows intervals with and without location data, which helps you take data completeness into account when analyzing a route.
Control presence in defined zones
Create zones on the map and set rules for their use. Carrier groups are formed automatically based on who is in a zone and are updated as employees and vehicles move.
Work with events in a single log
Review alarms, personnel and vehicle events, and messages from devices and system services. Event classification helps separate operational situations from technical messages.
Use accumulated data for analysis
Build reports on movements and time spent in zones. For tasks beyond the standard forms, you can create custom reports.
Configure notifications to match your site procedures
RealTrac supports general and zone alarms, as well as up to seven custom notification scenarios. For different situations, you can configure combinations of sound, light and vibration, their sequence and duration. For example, you can assign separate signals to fire, evacuation or gas hazard.
General alarm
Personnel notification through the system's dedicated infrastructure.
Custom scenarios
Distinct signals for different situations and severity levels.
Zone alarm
An alarm is generated automatically when a tag carrier enters a zone with alarm mode enabled.
The available notification methods depend on the equipment used and the system configuration. The software does not replace the safety procedures established at your site.
Reports and clear analytics on site operations
Analytical dashboards help you assess the time personnel spend in zones and at facilities, the number of zone entries and recorded alarm events. Use filters by period, department and tag carrier to move from the overall picture to a specific situation.
- Time spent in zones.
- Visits to selected zones.
- Danger zone entry events.
- Alarm button presses and other supported events.
Tools for system administration
RealTrac provides tools for managing users, equipment and tag carrier data. Role-based access separates routine operator tasks from the settings available to system administrators.
Users and access rights
Separate access to operator interfaces and administrative settings.
Personnel and devices
Management of tag carriers and their assigned devices, bulk data import from CSV files.
Equipment settings
Parameters of supported devices and their firmware.
Grow the system as your operations evolve
RealTrac supports a distributed configuration of several servers, RFID identification and built-in mechanisms for integration with external systems. The functions and the data exchange procedure are defined during project design.
Multiple servers
Cluster configuration with synchronization of maps, objects, zones and graphs between servers.
RFID identification
Support for compatible RFID cards and linking of identifiers to tag carriers.
External systems
Data exchange with access control systems and other enterprise information systems, defined during project design.
1. On-site equipment
2. RealTrac software platform
3. Workstations and agreed external systems
Deployment and support in your IT infrastructure
RealTrac server components are deployed in the customer's infrastructure. Containerized applications, separation of operational and analytical tasks, and monitoring and backup tools help your specialists support the system.
Deployment on Linux with Docker
Separate positioning and analytics
Monitoring and diagnostics
Access management and backup
Server platform on Linux and Docker
RealTrac uses containerized deployment of server components with Docker Engine and Docker Compose. The recommended architecture includes two physical servers: the first handles real-time positioning, the second handles analytics and monitoring. This separation lets you build reports for long periods without extra load on the main server.
| Component | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Main server | Processing of positioning data and real-time location of objects. |
| Analytics and monitoring server | Analytical tasks, reports and technical support tools. |
| User workstations | Access through a web interface in the browser. |
Layout: on-site equipment → RealTrac main server → web interface for the operator and administrator; data replication → analytics and monitoring server.
The server configuration and the set of components are defined during system design.
Server resources sized to your project
Server hardware requirements are calculated individually and depend on the number of tags and access points. Below are indicative configurations for RealTrac Positioning (RTLS).
Each configuration includes two physical servers. The specifications are given per server, not in total.
| Tags / access points | Processors per server | RAM | SSD per server |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 / 100 | 2 CPUs, 8 cores each, 2.8 GHz | 32 GB | 2 × 960 GB, mirrored |
| 500 / 500 | 2 CPUs, 16 cores each, 2.4 GHz | 64 GB | 2 × 1920 GB, mirrored |
| 1000 / 1000 | 2 CPUs, 38 cores each, 2.4 GHz | 128 GB | 2 × 3840 GB, mirrored |
The final specification is agreed for each specific project. Integration with RealTrac Collision Avoidance System (CAS) requires additional disk space.
Operator workstation: processor with 4 or more cores, 3.5 GHz; at least 8 GB of RAM; screen of 1280 × 800 or higher, Full HD recommended; Google Chrome browser.
Several servers in a single configuration
RealTrac supports a cluster configuration with real-time data synchronization between servers. The cluster-datasync service transfers information about tag carriers and their location, devices, objects, maps, zones, movement graphs, alarms and notifications.
Cluster synchronization is enabled and configured when the solution is deployed.
Tools for technical system control
The RealTrac server infrastructure includes monitoring and diagnostic tools. Grafana is used to view technical graphs, including signals between tags and access points. The documentation also provides for Prometheus, log management tools and a separate Superset analytics component.
| Tool | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Grafana | Visualization of technical data and signal graphs for diagnostics and positioning setup. |
| Prometheus | Technical monitoring component included in the server configuration. |
| Kibana / Elasticsearch / Logstash | Log management tools in configurations with centralized logging. |
| Superset | Analytical dashboards and reports based on system data. |
Role-based access and single sign-on
User access is provided through a web interface with role-based permissions. For projects with corporate authentication, an external Keycloak provider can be connected via OpenID Connect. This enables single sign-on and centralized access management. Without such an integration, the built-in RealTrac authentication is used.
User roles · Web access over HTTPS · External authentication through Keycloak · Access configured for the project setup.
Backup and logs for system support
The administrator guide provides tools for creating and restoring backups, including analytics server data. Backups can be scheduled. Component logs and logging level settings are available for diagnostics.
- Backup of data and configuration.
- Scheduled backups.
- Logs for analyzing server component operation.
Network planning before implementation
IP addressing, network routes and service access rules are agreed before deployment. The guide provides for a dedicated IP subnet for the equipment and a static server address. Network latency between the server and the access points must not exceed 3 ms.
The list of network ports and services is provided to your IT team to agree on the configuration.
We will agree on the server resources, network layout, set of services and support requirements for your project.
